SDDC Meetings and Events
The presentation will briefly cover what various types of impedances exist. Mostly the presentation will cover cores/preg material and how they interlink with the finished line width to get the impedance value desired by the OEM. We will cover 'loss to fill ratios' within a board stack-up and how this affects the impedance values and how the percentage of copper of a particular layer is important in determining the dielectric thickness to the reference planes of the various impedance types. This presentation will help designers better understand what is involved from a fabricator’s standpoint in meeting the required impedance values of a design and the importance of working with a fabricator during the design phase.
Who should attend? Signal Integrity Engineers and
PCB Designers Rick
Norfolk is a Sales Applications Engineer for Hallmark Circuits in
Poway, California. Rick has been working in the printed circuit
industry for approximately 28 years. He started his career at TRW,
Printed Circuits Division (later becoming Benchmark Technology) as a
planner. Rick was a Planning Engineer at Sigma Circuits for 7 years.
He worked for 5 years as a Product Engineer at Hadco/Sanmina in Owego,
New York and there he worked with OEM designers on fabrication and
design issues and specialized in controlled impedance applications.
